No Mountains in the Way was the name given to a National Endowment for the Arts grant written by James Eyeart in 1974. Based on the concept of FSA photographers during the 1930s and 40s, who documented rural America during a specific period of time, Jim Enyeart, Terry Evans and Larry Schwarm photographed within the boundries of the state of Kansas during the summer of 1974. After the exhibition and book publication, the work was donated to the Library of Congress and transferred to the Smithsonian American Art Museum in 1984.
