Survivor Dolls
December 8, 2016
This series started with an auction find – an impossibly beat-up and worn-out doll with tremendous personality.
I began looking for these obviously well-loved treasures. In the spring of 2007, the collection added another layer of meaning while involved in salvage operations in Greensburg, Kansas, which was destroyed by a tornado. Several of the dolls came from this devastation, seemingly alive, but showing scars from the disaster.
Shot with 4×5 film, printed 24×30 inches.
